Spain, specifically Barcelona and Cadaques
Photo by Cadaqués | TAPAS RESTAURANT
Our chef has landed in Spain, home to some of the most famous food in the Mediterranean. From the incredible tapas to the flavor-packed paellas and spectacular seafood, Spain is a culinary paradise. In Barcelona, our chef is taking in inspiration from the bustling streets, gathering tips from locals on the best places to eat. One of the top recommendations leads our chef to a small tapas joint called Quimet, Quimet, where jarred shellfish and seafood take center stage. From preserved cockles on toast to delectable conservas, this unique dining experience opens our chef's eyes to the incredible flavors that can be achieved with preserved ingredients.
Continuing the culinary journey, our chef heads up the coast to Cadaques, a picturesque seaside town known for its clever combination of seafood and produce from the surrounding mountains. Here, our chef meets a local chef and fisherman named Rafael, who shares his knowledge of the region's food and takes our chef to his vineyard. Cooking up a storm in the vineyard, our chef learns the secrets of Catalan flavors and creates a dish that brings together the mountains and the sea. With an abundance of fresh ingredients and a touch of creativity, our chef crafts a mouthwatering meal that perfectly captures the essence of Cadaques.

Palamos, known for its red prawns
The journey continues to Palamos, a port town renowned for its world-famous red prawns. Our chef has the opportunity to join local fisherman Chavi on his boat to witness the catching and auctioning of these prized seafood delicacies. The vibrant colors and flavors of the prawns leave our chef in awe, eager to create a recipe that showcases their unique taste. Back on land, our chef prepares sea and mountain skewers using succulent prawns, savory ham, and earthy mushrooms. The combination of flavors from the land and the sea creates a harmonious dish that celebrates the best of both worlds. These skewers, served on a bed of creamy, smoky leeks and beans, capture the essence of Palamos and the Catalan region.
Stay tuned for more adventures and culinary discoveries as our chef continues to travel the Mediterranean in search of inspiration for his recipes.
